Moody Spring + Floriology
We often associate Springtime flowers with sweet pastel tones. We created a moody Spring-inspired arrangement, based on death, mourning, and rebirth meanings of floriology.
A
black heart is found at the centre of the anemone. Fritillaria persica
with its warm yellow stamen. Grey reflexed tulips with hints of its pale
yellow stamen. Black cherry scoop scabiosa. Black ligustrum berries.
Black ranunculus. And thin black branching.
In
the language of flowers, the Fritillaria flower can mean sorrow,
mourning, passion, devotion, humbleness, royalty, or persecution.
Certain species of Scabiosa flowers feature dark petals representing
death or widowhood, like our black Cherry Scoop Scabiosa, which has
contributed to this floral also being called mourning bride and mourning
widow. In this deep colour, the symbolism of the scabiosa flower is
unfortunate love.
The most significant
meaning for the anemone flower can mean anticipation. This is because
the anemone
flowers close up at night and open back up in the morning. Ranunculus
symbolizes charm and attraction. Because tulips are one of the first
flowers to bloom in the spring, they can mean rebirth.
Even
in their dark hues, these flowers serve as a reminder to enjoy the
moment and to celebrate rebirth with Spring after a long winter.
