Stay Golden ...

I am loving GOLD! I am especially loving when stemware, vases, jewelry, feathers, and branches {really anything. you name it} are dipped in gold! The contrast of natural and metallic, or dull and shiny is amazing!

My brother and his fiancée are newly engaged, so of course the first questions I ask are "what are your colours?" and "what flowers do you love?!" Hearing that one of their colours is gold, so excited I immediately start the search. Again, this past weekend, another bride-to-be asked for gold to be included into their wedding floral decor. Here is my exploration of how this "plated" aesthetic can be used  for decor, flowers, and even the smallest details in weddings!

For colour combinations and flowers, I am especially loving peach, pinks, and gold.

Also, I am loving gold-dipped foliage and succulents for bouquets, boutonnières, favours, and centrepieces. Take a look see at some examples below.

Gold classes up even the most natural of elements. Here we see gold dipped leaves used as chair markers, matching perfectly with vintage amber bottles ...

For centrepieces, even the ever so popular mason jar gets a metallic touch ...

And finally golden place settings and favours ...

P.S. Gold isn't the only colour to experiment with. Recently, I had dipped billy balls in black paint to add an unusual element and a dramatic colour combination in a bridal bouquet. Really, these techniques and ideas can be applied with any colour. BORNAY {Barcelona-based floral art mavericks} use this technique all the time to create dramatic, unusual, surreal, and the most colourful floral creations I have ever seen! Some examples of their work really show how any colour combination is possible ...
