Inspiration: New Year's Flowers + Happiness

Most New Year’s resolutions ultimately come down to one thing: happiness – whether it’s making ourselves happy or contributing to the happiness of those around us. Fresh flowers - for your home, your workplace or your loved ones – is a simple way to spread happiness around you.

Here are four tips to spread happiness through flowers:

Invest in unique vessels - If you’re going to fill your home with flowers, you’re going to need the right vases. Go large and eclectic for your main living space and buy smaller single-flower vases for windowsills, occasional tables, bathrooms and kitchens – or get creative with grouping bottles and jars. See our inspiration pictures below.

Buy seasonal blooms - Go seasonal this year and know that you are getting the freshest blooms at their very best. From luscious winter amaryllis to aromatic spring peonies, you will never have a dull month if you embrace what the season offers. We are a member of The Local Flower Collective and support the local flower movement. So much so, that we grow our own blooms. We believe that even touches of the vines, buds, and foliage you find in your bouquets - elevates the design - making them truly unique. Through the growing season - early spring to late autumn - ask us what local blooms are available.

Find a favourite floral scent - Smelling a pleasant fragrance can have a dramatic impact on your well-being – and what could be more pleasant than the scent of freshly cut flowers? Find your favourite scent, it could even be foliage. From winter to the upcoming spring months, we recommend orchids, eucalyptus, bay leaf, hyacinths, daffodils, and lilac for their unique and uplifting scents.

Random acts of kindness - Let your loved ones know how much you care this year – and boost their happiness levels – by surprising them with flowers when they least expect it. We offer weekly, monthly and seasonal flower subscriptions. For our subscriptions, we offer three styles of bouquets at different price points. Explore our Flower Collections and select a style and budget that suits your liking.

For further inspiration, we layered brown bottles and played around with the height of blooms, mixing in fruit. Flowers include two-tone white and yellow irises, white allium, Quicksand roses, Candlelight roses, cluni blush ranunculus, white delphiniums, green anthurium, and green viburnum. A whole pineapple appears - a nod to its' symbolism of generosity and hospitality. And sliced lemons can be found amongst the blooms. A symbol of cleansing, freshness, and healing. The sun was quickly setting. We lit thin candles, casting a subtle, ever changing light into the long, dark midwinter nights. The light from candles ebbs and flows, flickers and smokes, must be carefully lit and tended, and casts a light at once ethereal and kind.
